Since the beginning of 2002 Yakut gold-mining companies have extracted 15,1 tons of gold. The task has been fulfilled on the whole by 92,3%. Among the leaders there are Aldansky ulus (106,6%), Nerungrinsky ulus (108,5%) and Nizhnekalymsky ulus (102%).

This year central funds wear is said to be one of the factors that limit the volume of gold mining. According to advance figures, 1600-1700 kg of the precious metal will have been mined till the end of 2002. In general, this year the companies of the republic are going to mine 16,8 tons of gold.
