The real "golden fever" has started at the banks of the main Iraq water artery, the Tigris River. People are searching new sources for surviving.

The matter is that jewellery stores have been situated along the river from time immemorial. Jewellers used to throw out waste products into the river in good times that is to say before economical sanctions. They thought it is cheaper to throw waste products out than to process them.

Now the situation has changed completely. Hundreds of Iraqis dive into the Tigris to get small gold and silver pieces. They remelt them and sell to get food, clothes and medicines.
