American scientists from Geophysical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution discovered how to raise large diamonds quickly. They informed that during experiments they managed to change the size of the diamond from 3,5 mm to 4,2 mm only in course of 12 hours.

The procedure of diamonds enlargement is not new to the science, there are two main methods: carbon compression and carbon enriched gas fission. However, these methods have many disadvantages: they depend on the size of diamonds, are time-consuming and not necessarily effective.

In some sense the new way of diamonds cultivation combines both methods but it has managed to avoid their possible complications. This discovery is also of great importance in earth's science: large diamonds allow to investigate materials under high pressure.
