The beginning of building of Vilyuiskaya-3 was launched 20 years ago. The aim of the project was to supply diamond oil and processing industry and agrarian section of the economics of Yakutiya with energy. The main purpose is to supply Central Region of Yakutiya lacking in power. "Yakutnipromalmaz" institute researched the problem and specified its being very acute. In cooperation with Institute of Technical and Physical Problems (Siberian branch of RAS) the "Program of energy supply of ALROSA and development of Western Yakutiya Region by 2005" was developed in 1999.
According to it for the construction to be over an enterprise VGES-3 was formed and after the control was passed to VulyuiGESstroi (ALROSA group) in the second half of 1999. In 2000 ALROSA bought the shareholding of VGES-3 its share is 66.3 % ALROSA press service informs.
