World diamond export increased in January-August by 21%

The world export of raw diamonds in January-August, 2002, constituted 116,52 mln ct ($4,789 bln). This is the information given by Diamond High Council, Belgium, whose interest is statistics of the world diamond turnover. Thus the world diamond export has increased by 20,8% comparing to the last year figures.

According to Diamond High Council, this year the leaders in diamond export are India (92,677 mln ct, $2,283 bln), Israel (4,416 mln ct, $1,202 bln) and Great Britain (2,165 mln ct, $255,37 mln).

World diamond import in January-August 2002, was 116,776 mln ct ($4,798 bln), that is more by 8,07% in money and by 31% in ct as compared with the analogous period last year.
