September 3rd, Moscow 44th International Jewellery Fair "JEWELLER-2002" celebrated its opening. Over 100 Russian and foreign jewellery companies presented their new collections hosted in eight pavillions of the 20 000 sq. m Exhibition Centre in Sokolniki, Moscow.

Alexander Rybakov, President of CJSC "RosJewellerExpo", the organiser of the Fair, the number of Russian exhibitors this year grew by 70 % compared to 2001, and the number of foreign exhibitors was 5 times more!

This year the foreign sector of Moscow International Jewellery Fair is represented by Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, France, Check Republic and Switzerland. Such outstanding results and growing figures clearly shows the rate of development of domestic jewellery market, that faced a very difficult situation only a few years ago.

During the Press-Conference at the opening of the fair, Alexander Ivanyuk, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Association "Jewellers Guild" mentioned that the jewellery manufacture in Russia annually 30 %. This allows us to predict that in 2002 the volume of jewellery manufacture in Russian would go up to 30-35 tons ($75 million), compared to 26 tons in 2001.
