In 2000 ALROSA is going to extract 70thston of diamond ore at the International mine, the company informed. In 2001 90ths ton are assumed to be produced, in 2002 - 500ths ton/y to meet the designed capacity.
The mine is under the building from 1975; it required $700m by now which is in double excess over the proposed figures. But the company considers the game to be worth the candle as the quality and concentration of the diamonds here are rather high. Still the quality declined 10% at the 750-1200m depth.
