According to most experts, this new legislative improvement significantly simplifies the external trade of precious metals and gemstones. It enables mining companies to export unprocessed gold and silver without licenses and quotes.

Beforehand, only several banks and Russian State Treasury could benefit from such privilege. Nowadays mining and processing companies, as well as jewellers and trading organizations, holding a permit for wholesale of precious metals, are able to export their products, providing they obtain the license of Ministry of Economic Development.

However, according to majority of experts, the main factor that holds back expansion of Russian jewellery export , is not long bureaucratic procedures, but a non-competitive design.
