According to the Mining Department of Irkutsk region Administration, total gold production came up to 8.5 tons. This is by 1,2 tons less than during the same period last year.

The head of to the Mining Department of Irkutsk region Administration explains it by unsuitable weather conditions that delayed the start of the mining season this year, as well as by of the natural exhaustion of mineral resources.

Irkutsk region is the fourth largest gold producer in Russia, and the first one - in terms of gold deposits. Seven large mining teams and fourteen small ones constantly operate in Bodaibinsk region.
