According to most experts this new legislative improvement will allow for radical liberation of external trade of precious metals, gemstones and jewellery. The procedure on import and export of precious metals and gemstones is being significantly simplified. Miners can now export their own gold, and jewellers can export their pieces without licenses and quotes, which will enable Russian jewellery market to grow.

Beforehand, the process of obtaining such a license was rather long and complicated what was often sees as a rather huge obstacle for contract work with foreign partners. Apart from that, its is now not only several banks which could export unprocessed gold and silver, but all mining and processing companies will be able to export them, providing they have the license of Ministry of Economic Development.
