Meeting of Supervisory committee of ALROSA Company took place on July 14, 2001 in Moscow. This is the first meeting of the body since the annual meeting of shareholders on June 30 last year.

Among the number of issues on diamond prospecting activities the workgroup passed the Program of Research and Scientific-Technical Support for the Works at ALROSA Mines. The program has been worked out by the Special Committee, headed by Academician K.N.Trubetskoi and and MSUH Rector Puchkov.

The program will be launched in 2001-04 and will be used to convert big enterprises of ALROSA to open mining. First of all this will go for Mir, Udachnaya and Aikhal pits. The work is to be fruitful, this is obvious from the support of the program, which will be conducted by Russian Academy of Sciences, some 20 scientific and research organisation will contribute to this work. 74 Doctors and Candidates of Sciences work for ALROSA on a regular basis.
