Komiinform was told by the Institute that 26 expedition groups were formed.

Expedition programs on geology are aimed at solution of acute and fundamental problems of regional geology. In order to accomplish these tasks expeditions are to examin a host of objects - gold and copper containing fields at Polar and North Urals, barits deposits at Pai Hoe, diamond deposits and Middle Timan and to carry out other investigation activities. Expeditions are financed within "Integratsia" Federal Program.

Examination will take place at practically all the territory of Komi, Vorkuta and Ukhta industrial regions. Scientists will also visit Arkhangelskaya Oblast, Kirovskaya Oblast, Permskaya Oblast, Nenetsky, Yamalo-Nenetsky and Khanty-Mansijsky autonomous regions.

Within the framework of joint projects foreign scientists participate in field work. Currently expeditions work with Peep Myannik (Estonia), and this summer they are to meet a group of Finland University associates.
