3.931 kg of Gold Mined in Yakutia Republic

In the first half of 2001 3,931 kg of gold mined in the republic. Mining decreased 8% compared to the than the first half of 2000 when mining result was 4,270 kg, announced Oleg Popov, Head of Mining Department of Industry Ministry. Mining operations are performed by 110 enterprises and companies. Aldanzoloto is the biggest gold producer in winter period.
Ore transportation is carried out by contractors. Due to the transportation facilities shortage in February and April Aldanzoloto company failed to reach the targets.
Mining began successfully in Neryungi but due to the cold spell in June the company failed to mine all it could. Since May 15 to June 1 it mined 160 kg, over the first week of June - 55 kg only. Total result is 884 kg, with 120 kg decrease compared to last year.
Mining season started very successfully in Oymyakonsky ulus, with increase of 110 kg.
Flood broke work schedule for Drazhnik artel. With all the fields flooded it mined 5 times less than expected.
