JULY 10, 2001 ![]() Jewellery Art of 20th Century - Russia - USSR - Russia
On July 10 an exhibition named Jewellery Art of 20th Century - Russia - USSR - Russia opens at All-Russian Museum of Decorative-Applied and National Art. It is organized by Ministry of Culture and "Lady-Lider" Club.
The exposition will include some hundreds exhibits that illustrate the history of jewellery art from the end of 19th century to the present days.
Along with unique works of Pre-Revolution period by Faberge, Ovshinnikov, Khlebnikov and Grachevy brothers companies pieces of the Soviet period will be on display. Some of these works will be exposed to public and professional jewellers for the first time. This jewellery marks the turning point in the art of 20th century.
Individual works of 1960-90s would be also of interest to general public as many of the jewellers are well-known all over the world.
Collection of the 20th century gathered in the museum is considered one of the best jewellery collections in the world and includes a great host of pieces - decorative jewellery, estate jewellery, drafts for Faberge works, jewellery concepts of modern jewellery artists.
Among the newly exhibited pieces are famous jewellery by Kubachi and Severnaya Chern. This diversity is to meet the diversity of tastes - from jewellery classics to avant-guard jewellery.
The exhibition closes on August 10, 2001.
