For the period of 5 month of 2002 Russia increased the rate of gold mining and manufacture by 40,6%, up to 38,435 tons, compare to the figures for the same period of 2001 This was reported by Valery Goncharov , the Head of Accounting and Pricing Policy Department of GOKHRAN, Russian State Depositary for Precious Metals and Gemstones. According to Mr. Goncharov, the increase in gold production for 3 months of the year was 3,4 tons; 7,8 tons for 4 months; 11,103 tons for 5 months". Its is predicted by Valery Goncharov that up to 175 tons of gold shall be produced this year.

As it was reported earlier, 154 tons of gold was produced in Russia over 2001.
