Gold reserves of Russia over January-May 2001 grew $5.578 bn i.e. 19.94% - from 27.972 bn on January 1 to $33.55 bn, CBR informed Thurday.

Over 5 months of 2001 currency reserves volume increased 22.6% up to 29.749 bn USD, while gold reserves - increased 2.5% up to 3.801 bn USD. The share of foreign capital increased from 86.7% to 88.7% while gold share decreased from 13.3% to 11.3%.

In May 2001 gold reserves of Russia grew 1.9 bn USD i.e. 6% from 31.65 bn to 33.55 bn USD. Over May currency reserves grew 6.7% from 27,868 bn USD to 29,742 and gold reserves by 0.5% from 31,65 to 3,801 bn USD.
