Activity of Illegal Gemtraders Stopped in Moscow - $11 mln Worth Emeralds Withdrawn

Activity of criminal group engaged in illegal gemstone turnover stopped in Moscow, RIA Novosti informed with reference to General Department Against Organised Crime of MHA of Russia.
According to GDAOC information on May 6 associates of Department of Economical Security of FSS of Russia conducted an operationat Vyborgskaya Street in Diotoma Company office. 50 y.o. general director and 41 financial director and 43 y.o. director of another company were arrested when trying to sell 6 emeralds of 344 c of total weight at $23,000 and 500,000 rubles.
Frisk activities resulted in 20 kg of emeralds and rough emeralds worth $11 mln. One of the rough emeralds weighs 7.5 kg.
Legal procedures are executed, investigation is being carried out.
