According to the official figures of state gold reserves reported to IMF Russia ranks as 15th, papers of IMF state, RBC says.

On January 1, 2001 volume of gold reserves of the Russian Federation amounted 388,700 which equals to 11.3% of the total volume of IMF countries.

The first place is gone to the USA which owns 8,139,900 t of gold (56%) Last year gold reserves of IMF members experienced a growth of 12% and amounted 28,738,000 t. Gold reserves of EC members grew 31% and amounted 12,571,000.

Gold reserves of IMF itself were estimated at 3,217,000 t.
