N e w s APRIL 26, 2001 ![]() Yaroslavl Artists Recreated Saint Georgi Order Using ancient drafts artists of "Russian Crafts" Center managed to recreate one of the main war orders of Russia - Saint Georgi Pobedonosets Order. Artists as well as jewellers of ancient times used only gemstones and precious metals in the work.
Order of Saint Georgi Pobedonosets was given to russian soldier for courageous war deeds. The award was established in 1769 by Yekaterina the Second. To be awarded it an officer was to be in army for 25 years and participate bravely in about 20 campaigns.
According to Yaroslavl artists they had been to Hermitage and studied genuine orders. If their work is approved by historians and jewellers board Yaroslavl earn a right to issue this order.
Saint Georgi Pobedonosets Order is the second award brought back by Yaroslavl artists, the first one was Andrei Pervozvanny order which was given to Dmitri Lihachev.
