N e w s APRIL 14, 2001 One of the Oldest Diamond Deposit in Yakutia, Mir, Is Closing Mir (Peace) is one of the oldest deposits which was developed in the Soviet times. Now its resources are exhausted, but diamonds with unique among them, mined there remain, RTR informs. Now it is impossible to recall who was the first to give this name to a deposit. Over its 50 year history some 500 crystals got their proper names and none of it was sold. All the nominal diamonds are considered unique and are not subject to sale. Such diamonds are stored in Diamond Fund and Gokhran. Diamond miners say they produce diamonds of over 50 carat weigh (nominal ones) 3 to 5 times a month on average.
