APRIL 10, 2001
Faberge masterpieces will be exhibited in Kremlin
On the 12th of April a presentation of exceptional Faberge masterpieces will take place in Arms Chamber, in Moscow Kremlin. The name of Faberge in the jewellery world is a mark of unique style and great experience of Europenian jewellery artists.
On the edge of centuries more than 500 jewellers were employed in Faberge's workshops in Moscow and St. Petersburg alone. All together, more than 150 000 great jewellery pieces were created. In 1918, Karl Faberge, the founder of the company, was forced to close his business and to flee from Russia to Switzerland.
Following his death in 1920, his successors started to look for a jeweler who could continue the business and to follow Faberge's fine traditions. The search lasted for many decades, and only in 1989,Victor Mayer (Germany)- one of the oldest jewellery companies in Europe, received a right to mark its products with the name of Faberge. Since then, a production of traditional miniature clowns, Easter Eggs and unique jewellery pieces have been established.
Today, as always, the main themes of inspiration for Faberge jewelers, are important world events and exceptional people, t hat have made a real difference to humanity. The first item produced after the revolution of 1917was an Easter egg "The World of Gorbachev" , completed to mark an occasion of awarding the Noble Peace Prize to first Soviet president - Mikhail Gorbachev. The most sensational work of modern Faberge jewelers became a musical egg "Clock with the Indicator of Moon Phases", which was first exhibited on Basel World Watch and Jewellery Show 2001.It took 18 months to design and create this perfect example of exclusive jewellery masterpieces.
