The Biggest Watch and Jewellery Fair Took Place in Switzerland

Annual event in Basel is considered to be the biggest and the most prestigeous fair in the world. It house so much jewellery that visitors joke, "You can walk here for days and not see the best and most important. But everybody will come across the important jewellery brands. No matter how much it can cost it is a question of prestige to be the center of attention.

Faberge is a famous Russian jewellery brand although it is a German firm who owns it. Easter eggs are moving by the hand made mechanical system. It is more a museum exhibit than a thing to stand at your table. Faberge also manufactures watches. One of the exhibits of the fair was a watch made of gemstones which cost about $1 mln. Although the representative of a firm said there are people who can afford buying such trinkets. Last years there are such customers in Russia.

At first sight nothing new can appear at conservative work of watch and jewellery manufacturing. Although every year more and more extravagant exhibits are presented to public of the fair. Stylish brand Alain Silberstein showed "watch without dial". Actually there is a dial but it is made so that no one but you could see the time.

Patek Philippe is conservative and expensive as usually. This brand is meant for the rich and important people, politicians and heads of the states. And they are no to make a show of. "Is it true that President Putin wears Ratek Philippe watch?", NTV correspondent asks the firm representative. "I heard he has the watch of our firm, one of the most strict models", is a reply.

It took five years to manufacture last model. It was designed during four years and manufacturing itself took a year. Creating new designs is really a hard work. But Patek Philippe is going to present something brand new at the next Basel show.
