The formal opening of the renewed Amber Room of the Ekaterininsky palace in Tsarskoye Selo (near St.-Petersburg) will take place on May 31, 2003.

The Amber Room has been reconstructed for 23 years. According to the head of the "Tsarskoye Selo" museum's press-services Tatiana Zharkova, the Amber Room has become the symbol of relationship between Russia and Germany, as the German company "Rurgaz" has sponsored the reconstruction works.
