Yesterday A meeting of a "round table" took place yesterday on the subject of "Russian precious metals and gemstones in the global market: today's situation and future developments", due to the Russia's planned entry to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Oleg Pelevin, General Director of Inter-Regional Association of Precious Metals Producers held speech on behalf of Association. The following conclusions were drawn from his address:
- Russia's entry to WTO can only be considered as positive step, if appropriate protection from import of goods and services from minor producers on internal market is provided, including support for minor producers on external market.
- Presidential Decree ¹ 742 from June 21, 2001 "On Order of import and export to and from Russian Federation of precious metals, gemstones and its products", theoretically enables Russian precious metals and gemstone and its products producers to present its products at the global market.
- In order to enter to the global market successfully, one must find an organisation-participant of external market, acting as a marketing and integration partner for the Russian producers.
