Smuggling Case in Sheremetyevo Airport
Customs officers of Sheremetyevo airport executed legal procedures against the fact of smuggling of a huge portion of jewellery. RIA Novosti was informed by Head Department Against Smuggling of the State Customs Committee.
Jewellery was withdrawn from German citizen flying to Elangen as a result of a special operation. After checking the luggage 232 diamonds of different cut and size 1 emerald of 3.35 carat, 4 big pearls (2 black) and 37 gold and platinum jewellery pieces with diamonds and gemstones. Among them were antique and very rare ones.
She was trying to take them out without declaring. After the detention she said she was an owner of jewellery shop in Germany and flying to Moscow she accidentally took a purse of jewellery with her. Along with that she was hiding them under her clothes. When jewellery was withdrawn the smuggler was released.
