GEMS Annual Fair Results
On February 23 GEMS annual trade fair closed in Vladivostok. The fair is a regular event since 1995 three times a year - before the New Year holidays, at the end of February - at the beginning of March and at the end of June - at the beginning of July. Over the week about 2500 people visited the fair.
The range of products was as wide as to satisfy the most sophisticated buyers - individual pieces in gold, silver and nickel silver, stoneworks (boxes, vases, pictures, statuettes, glasses, ashtrays, candlesticks), also pieces made of combination of wood, gemstones, ivory.
The exhibitors of the fair are mainly small workshops from Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Dalnegorsk, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Voronezh, Samara, Moscow, St-Petersburg. Most of them exhibited at the fair for the first time.
The fair is of a great success among the inhabitants of Vladivostok as the pieces represented are miles away in design from the goods in the local shops. That concerns jewelry. After Vladivostok the fair will move to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
