In March 2000 the Department of Economic Security of FSS investigated the illegal activities of a group of criminals, all of whom are Moscovites, who were engaged in the black market production and realization of precious metals, as RBC was reported by the Department. The investigation revealed that the criminals had set up a secret laboratory for precious metal processing under the cover of Kerma-TF company. They also organized a retail network for realization of the metals. Withdrawn at the criminals' arrest were about 30 kg of gold, including high assay gold bars, 60 kg of silver and currency of total $300 thousand. Six people were retained. The investigation office started a criminal case under the charge of illegal precious metal circulation.
