MARCH 30
The production cooperative Komsomolsky is planning to extract about 100 kg of gold in the Komi republic in 2000. Last year the team mined 30 kg of the precious metal. As Komminform agency was told by the cooperative chairman Victor Trunyakov, the team could have mined as much as 98 kg of the metal but because of the geologists' mistake the amount of gold at the Bolshaya Katalamba deposit (Inta region) did not exceed 126 milligramme per a cubic meter of rock. According to the geological estimations, gold miners were supposed to pan up to 500 milligramme of gold per a meter of rock. After winning the competition the miners have moved to a more prospective deposit Suryas Rusvozh (Inta region). The team, consisting of about a hundred members, is planning to begin works at the end of May, reports Komminfo agency.
