The Press-service of the National Bank of Ukraine informed that according to the results of
the international auditing concerning the operations with gold and currency reserves
no violations were revealed in December 1997. In the press-release, passed to the agency
"Interfax-Ukraine" it says:" Because of the recent accusations brought in the "Financial Times"
on the 28th of January 2000 saying that $613 million of IMF money were transferred from the
Central Bank in December 1997 and invested into the state bonds;
and about $200 million were put in the private accounts in Swiss and Belgium banks, the National
Bank of Ukraine asked the PriceWaterhouseCoopers company to run the special auditing of the
operations with gold and currency reserves for December 1997. According to the results of
the auditing, no operations were revealed which would correlate with those described in the
article, reports the informational server "Ukraine On-line" .
