On monday Mr.Vladimir Putin, the acting president of Russia, signed the decree concerning the
qoutes for the export of Russian diamonds, allowing to start the supplies to South African comany
De Beers, informs "Interfax" with a reference to Mr. Sergey Ulin, the vice-president of the ALROSA
company.
These quotes assume the annual sale of diamonds to De Beers for the amount of $550 million which
is conditioned by the 4-year agreement, signed in October 1998 in Moscow.
The agreement anticipates that the volumes of diamond purchases should not exceed 26% of the
annual sales volume. The overall sales volume of De Beers totaled $5.24 billion in 1999.
