A meeting on the security issues of Russian diamond and brilliant complex was held by the law-enfrorcing institutions of RF on March 1 in Smolensk. The Alrosa company was one of the initiators of the meeting and was represented by the company president Vyacheslav Shtyrov, reported the company press service. The company has been long known to be working in the direction of imposing more strict security requirements in the diamond mining industry. The company experts have designed a comprehensive program of measures to put an end to crime in the mining areas. Alrosa is making a considerable contribution to the state's struggle against illegal diamond export. In 1999 alone the company excluded from its customer list 29 purchase companies with questionable reputation. Criminal cases were started against 11 of them.
