Gold Consuming Grew 11% in 4th Quarter of 2000 to Achieve 894 t
According to Itar-TASS the information was released by the World Gold Council (www.gold.org) the organization financed by the leading gold companies. Comparing to 4th quarter of 1999 the figure increased 11%. Jewelry industry remains the biggest gold consumer its share in the total gold consuming is 793 t of gold. Among 27 of the most important world markets India is the biggest gold consuming country with over 242 t in the 4th quarter of 2000.
There was a rapid growth of gold consuming in Turkey partially thanks to the export. Among the high level consumers are Near East countries, Mexica and Vietnam.
"Golden jewelry is the best present" slogan is still relevant for the USA. During the last year demand for gold in America was 397 t.
