Days of Yakutia Jewelry in Moscow

Trade fair "Severnoye Siyanie" (Northern Lights) will be hold in "Almazny Dvor" Trade and Exhibiting Centre in Moscow on February 13-15.
All diamond manufacturers of Yakutia will present their art-pieces in the capital of Russia. Among them the most important Yakutia firms - Zoloto Yakutii, Sakhajuvelir, Diamond research centre, Charoit cutting workshop, folk handicrafts fund "Kudai Bakhsy" and others.
The workprogram of the show will include presentation of jewelry pieces made of unique Yakutia diamonds and mammoth bone, jewelry companies presentation, national dishes tasting as well as round tables and press conferences on diamond complex of Yakutia and ALROSA Company.
Jewelry art of Sakha people is one of their traditional handicrafts. The pieces of ancient cutters enchant with their fancy forms, unusual technique and intricate embellishments.
Diamond cutting history of Yakutia is not very long. The first diamond of 0.3 carat was cut in 1991 at Suntarsky Plant. In 1999 the total volume of cut diamonds of Yakutia was $90 mln. At present 28 diamond cutting enterprises work in Yakutia. Over 9 months of 2000 Yakutia manufacturers produced diamonds worth 323 mln rubles.
Opening ceremony of "Severnoye Siyanie" Trade Fair will take place on February 13 at 4 p.m. at Khrustalny Pereulok 1, Trade and Exhibit Centre "Almazny Dvor". Journalists accredited at 234-18-90, 234-18-91.
