"Idea, metal, stone-2000" Awards Results
On January 30 results of annual competition were announced at Jekaterinburg Museum History of Stonecutting and Jewellery Art named after DEnis-Uralsky. The competition was held under the aegis of the museum and Ministry of Culture of Sverdlovskaya Oblast. 150 works and 61 author participated in it during this year. It gathered prominent Ural cutters and jewellers as well as the beginners - the students of Ural Institutions, the plants of Jekaterinburg - Non-ferrous Metals Processing Plant, Juveliry Urala, Russkiye Samotsvety.
There were 5 categories. The series of platinum jewelry "Voices of Past Century" (artist N.V.Ledova)won the first prize in the "Jewelry Piece" category. Authors piece of L.F.Lukiantsev- a set "Samotsvety Urala" was the best in the "Beauty of the Stone" category. Aroma Box "Silver Rain" (V.Ju.Pichugov) was considered to be the best among the students works. "Third Eye" (artist Ye.R.Lavryonova, "Juveliry Urala") piece won the first prize as non-traditional jewelry piece. Two vases "Falling Snow" and "Spring Palette" are the best estate jewelry works.
The foundators of the competition hope it will maintain to preserve traditions of Ural jewelry and stonecutting school as well as to find out new departments and technics of stonecutting.
