The statement was made by the head of Ministry of Natural Resources Boris Yatskevich. He said that the license on mining the Dukat silver deposit and Verkhotina diamond area might be recalled as the miners had failed to fulfill their part of the agreement. However, Yatskevich did not deny the possibility of further cooperation with both current license holders. "Our intention is to recall the licenses only as a last resort", said the Minister. Yatskevich also mentioned that in 2000 the Ministry of Natural Resources is planning to hold a tender on the right to mine the gold ore deposit Sukhoy Log and a number of tenders on mining several Russian oil and gas deposits. According to Yatskevich the Ministry is planning to regulate the order of document preparation for mining of Kovytskink gas- condensate deposit.
