In 2002 rough diamonds sales of De Beers Company increased by 16% up to $5,15 bln as compared to $4,45 bln a year ago. The company's income enhanced by 12% up to $570 mln in 2002.
According to the executive director of De Beers G.Ralfe, the first half of the year was especially successful for the company. Then the demand for diamonds began to decline, however still being comparatively high.
Despite positive tendencies, the experts of De Beers are very careful in making prognoses for 2003.
