The Report of Mr. Konstantin Lukyanov "Jewellery Internet in Russia and the site Russian Assay Office" at the International Symposium "Jewellery Potential of Russia", dedicated to the 300 anniversary of the Assay supervision.

Jewellery Internet in Russia is just a baby. According to our data, the number of web-sites, dedicated to the Jewellery subjects could be counted on the fingers of one hand. At the present time there are about 200 of them, including fully competent electronic representatives of Jewellers and Jewellery Enterprises as well as private sites with a minimum of pages. Some Jewellery Plants are represented with just one page of the electronic text.

To some unassuming estimations, their number will overcome the thousand by the next MPMS conference. Admit that the growth pace of Jewellery Internet impresses.

Sites can be divided into three categories according to their specification. The first group includes those sites which inform only about themself. The second one - those which inform about themself as well as provide with information in general (horoscopes, fashion trends, etc.) The third one includes those sites, which inform not only about themself, but present the the whole Jewellery field on their pages.

As a rule, the most interesting sites in the marketing aspect are those from the second and third group. The problem of the second group is in advertising of its site. Informational sites are well-known among the Internet users, and, accordingly, it is much easier to find you, if you are registered on such servers, and it would be even better to place your electronic representatives on their homepages. In this case it is much easier to pass the "underwater stones", which exist in the unlimited space of Internet. Not every web-designer can solve all these problems. In particular, the non-agreement of the correct transformation of the representation's kind at the review in different program systems and the problem of so-called "program holes" lead to various incidents, making these representations just incapable. Besides, not everyone can create special programs on the pages of their representations in order to attract more visitors. For example, the well-known De Beers on its homepage developed a program, letting to design the wedding rings by yourself. It allowed to increase the site attendance by 900%.

Among the foreign informational sites the most famous are "Rapaport", "Polygon" and "GemKey". On the pages of these servers You will get a complete idea of the jewellery field in the world, but only in English.

In Russian Internet "Russian Jewellery Network" is considered to be the most serious informational site . Not only because it is the most popular and the most visited Jewellery Server in Russia. Considering the seriousness and scale of its filling it noticeably differs from the other sites, which claim for being informational. .

However, I am not going to self-advertise and will introduce to your attention the web-server of the Russian Assay Office.
